FGIT — privacy
FGIT is designed to keep storage and connection choices explicit. This policy explains what the app and server do with information.
Last updated: 24 August 2026
When you use the Mac app in local mode, the embedded FGIT server stores its database and evidence under the app’s container on that Mac. The app does not require a vendor cloud account to run locally.
The administrator password is used to bootstrap the local workspace. Passwords are stored by the server as password hashes; the app uses a session token to authenticate the active session.
When you choose a remote server, the app connects to the server URL you enter. Evidence, cases, accounts, and server-side logs are handled by that server operator. FGIT does not proxy that traffic through a service operated by the developer.
The app does not put passwords or tokens into the server URL. Login tokens are kept for the active app session and are sent to the selected FGIT server when making authenticated requests.
FGIT has no advertising SDK, analytics service, or developer-operated tracking system in the app. The developer does not receive your evidence, case data, passwords, or login tokens through FGIT.
Your server may create ordinary operational logs, authentication records, and audit data needed to provide the service. Those records are controlled by the operator of that server.
An FGIT server can be configured with optional embedding or AI providers. If the server operator enables one, the relevant request data may be sent to that provider according to the provider’s terms. Local mode does not configure a cloud provider automatically.
Before using a remote server or enabling an AI provider for a sensitive investigation, verify its operator, retention policy, access controls, and jurisdiction.
The Mac app uses its sandboxed application container for its local workspace. If you explicitly choose an evidence folder or file through macOS, the app uses the access granted for that selection. It does not scan unrelated folders in the background.
