Appening reads log and preference files on your Mac and shows them to you. It collects nothing about you and sends nothing anywhere: the app has no network access at all.
What it reads
- Your home folder, which you grant once: preference files, the download record, crash reports, shell history, and โ with Full Disk Access โ the permission database and the app-usage database.
- System logs macOS keeps: the unified log, the login accounting file, the install history, the system crash reports. Reading only; the app never writes to them.
What stays on your Mac
- Everything. The events the scan finds are stored in one database inside the app's own container and are replaced on the next scan; delete the app and they are gone.
- Exports (PDF, CSV) are written only where you choose to save them.
Network
None. The app is sandboxed without the network entitlement; it cannot make a request even if it wanted to.
Analytics and advertising
There are none. No analytics framework, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter, no third-party code.
