What AutoBattery collects

Nothing. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier, and no server operated by us. No information about you or your device is sent to the developer, because there is nowhere for it to be sent.

What it stores, and where

DataStoredLeaves your Mac?
Tapo email addressApp containerNo
Tapo passwordmacOS KeychainOnly to your plug
Selected plug name, model, addressApp containerNo
Limits, interval, languageApp containerNo
Battery percentage, charging stateMemory onlyNo

Your Tapo password is stored in the macOS Keychain, scoped to AutoBattery. It is never written to a file, a log, or a crash report.

Network access

AutoBattery communicates only with the Tapo plug on your local network. It sends a discovery broadcast to find plugs, then talks directly to the one you select in order to switch it. Your credentials authenticate to the plug, exactly as the official Tapo app does.

Nothing is routed through a server of ours, because there isn't one.

macOS asks your permission for local network access the first time AutoBattery searches for plugs. You can revoke it at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.

Your battery data

Battery percentage and charging state are read through macOS power APIs, used to decide whether to switch the plug, and then discarded. They are never stored and never transmitted.

Children

AutoBattery is a utility with no user accounts, no social features, and no content. It is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

Deleting your data

Everything AutoBattery stores lives on your Mac. Sign out in Settings › Account to remove the stored password from the Keychain. Deleting the app removes its container and all saved settings.

Third parties

AutoBattery works with TP-Link Tapo smart plugs. TP-Link is not affiliated with AutoBattery and does not endorse it. Your use of Tapo devices and any Tapo account is governed by TP-Link's own terms and privacy policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address and the date above will be updated.
